Prodigy Advance PC Interface Cable

You will also need the Cable Interface hardware package for the Prodigy Advance or Advance2

You may also need drivers for your computer:

Click here to download drivers for Vista

Click here to download drivers for Windows 98 to Windows XP

Click here to download the manual

(If you have a problem downloading any of the above then 'right click' on the link and 'Save' the item instead)

Here are a few pointers:

  • The WinRaR license message will be removed if you order their software otherwise the message pops up.
  • When you open the software, the front page shows dual throttles. Both can be operated using one cab (or walk-around). Later we will add a single throttle version and perhaps a 4 throttle version.
  • The CV blaster will allow you to download CV settings from someone else. For instance you will see a few profiles in the zip file. You can simply open the file on the CV Blaster page by clicking ‘Load CV Blaster file’, select your file, and it will program all CV settings into your decoder in one click of a button. If you make a change and save it for reference you can do so. Then always go back to it when you want. You will also be able to email your settings to someone else or vice versa.
  • The program page, the fast clock and accessory selection all seem fairly straight forward.
  • The roster page can be filled in, then you can click any loco you want to activate by clicking on the left column and selecting Throttle A or Throttle B. You will then see it listed on the throttle. We have included two sample pages partially filled out to show you how can create your own and save it with a different name. If you have a filled in roster page you can load it into the software whenever you want to. Use example roster page 1 or 2 as examples. To get there click on “Load Roster Page” and you then select the roster page.

Prodigy Advance Interface Instructions for Windows 7

by Matt Lovell

Some customers seem to have had difficulties installing the software on the Windows 7 operating system - this step by step guide is what we did to make it work.

Step 1 - Basic Setup

Connect the base unit to a power supply and make sure the Base unit is on. Also make sure your layout is wired to the base unit in the correct way, for example make sure that the main track output in connected to the main layout and the Programming output is connected to Program track.

Step 2 - Connect the Lead

Plug the USB Computer interface cable into a USB slot on the computer (The Blue Plug End) and plug the other end into a controller port on the base unit DO NOT use the Factory Use Only port.
Install any drivers that may pop up to ensure that your computer is up to date and able to use this program.

Step 3 - Download and Install

Go to www.gaugemaster.com/prodigy_pc_interface.html and click Download the software here and click save to save the interface to your computer, then click Run to run the program.
A screen will pop up and say the Current cab number is #0 (this relates to how many controllers you have on your layout for example if you already have a controller then you can call this program #1)
Click ok.
The program should now be installed and ready to use.

Step 4 - Play

To test the program put a loco on the layout, type in the loco address into the top left hand box which says Loco, (if it‘s a new loco enter number 3 as this is usually the default loco chip setting). Press one of the function buttons, either one it doesn’t matter at this stage, and make sure the Link light flashes quickly. If so then increase the throttle and make sure the loco moves in the correct direction, e.g. the direction button shows forward when the loco moves forward and reverse when the loco moves backwards.
