At Gaugemaster, we appreciate the importance of the privacy of our visitors, and therefore we take steps to ensure that their privacy is protected.  This statement sets out what information we collect and how that is used.

Information you provide us

When you enter information on a page of the site, whether that be by placing an order, sending us an e-mail or so on, that information is received and stored by us.  This may include name, address, credit or debit card details and contact details.  You may choose not to provide certain information, although when placing an order there are certain details that we require for the processing of said order.

Any such information is used only for the express purpose of providing the best service possible, and is used only by ourselves and those of our partners involved in processing and delivering your order.

When you order, we will ask that you specify certain information about your modelling interests, such as the gauge that you model.  This information is used to ensure that we provide a reliable and effective mailorder service.  Similarly, when you send us an e-mail, the information you include is used only to best answer any enquiries or similarly provide an optimum service.

Cookies - Information we collect

In order to help us with development and evolution of the site, we collect certain types of information about the way in which the site is used.  This information is collected through the use of cookies.  A cookie is a small text file - not a program - that is used to store information, and which can then be used to analyse traffic patterns, visitor behaviour and compile aggregated data which we can analyse in order to improve the site.

We also use cookies to automatically pass information to other sections of the site, enabling us to improve the user journey around the site.  For example, we use cookies to automatically reconstruct product searches you may have performed, enabling you to revisit the results of that search more easily.

However, we appreciate that some users may prefer not to allow the use of cookies on their browser.  Blocking these cookies will not prevent you from accessing or using the site, although certain features may not be fully available.  Currently, most of the cookies in use on the site are "session cookies", meaning that they are automatically deleted from your hard drive at the termination of your visit.

• Tracking the items in your shopping basket

The only exceptions to this are the Persistent Cookies (cookies that stay on your computer) that are used for the following:

• Maintaining your shopping basket between visits

None of these cookies are used to store any sensitive details and are mainly there to enhance your visit to our website.

Most of the cookies that are generated by the site are set by us (Gaugemaster Controls Ltd.) The only exception to this is that we use the widely adopted Google Analytic/Adwords s to gather information about your visit(s), these cookies are Third Party cookies generated by Google on our behalf.

As the website has a secured HTTPS area where you login and enter personal information, some of the cookies mentioned above will be duplicated for the secure area. No additional information to that already mentioned is stored.

Sensitive information

This website uses secure methods to protect any information you provide from unauthorised use.  However, the evolving nature of the methods used to access such information means that, whilst we will do our utmost to protect all information we hold, no internet security system can guarantee absolute security 100% of the time.  This means that any information you enter is done so at your own risk.

If you prefer not to use this method for placing orders, we can accept orders by telephone, fax or post.  Please visit our contact page for details of how to do this.

We would urge all of our customers and visitors to take steps to protect themselves from unauthorised access to their details.  For example, when using a shared computer, please be sure to sign off when finished.  Please do not use e-mail, including the e-mail form on this website, to send sensitive information, such as credit/debit card details, to us.  We cannot accept any responsibility for any unauthorised use of information sent to us in this manner.

Who do we pass information to?

With the exception of those companies whom we use to process orders, such as, but not necessarily limited to, financial clearing houses and couriers, we do not sell, distribute or disclose any of your information to third parties unless required to do so by law.  When we do pass information to a third party during the processing of orders, we will only pass the information that is necessary for the effective completion of your order.
