Piko have been around since 1949.  Starting out as a state owned toy manufacturer based in Sonneberg, Piko first found success with a range of toy cars before moving over to model railway production with locomotives, rolling stock and building kits for HO scale and buildings for N and G Scales.

Piko G IndustrialAfter German reunification in 1992, Piko became a private enterprise, and shortly afterwards began producing G scale kits for garden railway enthusiasts.  These kits are outstandingly popular, particularly in the U.S.

In 2007 an excellent Track System was added to the G Scale range, including individual rail and sleeper sections for making flexible lengths. For more information on this system, please see our Piko G Scale Track leaflet in PDF format.

Piko Industrial WorksThe current HO scale range is amongst the most exquisitely detailed available, and they are one of the few manufacturers to offer full scale length coaches at 1:87 scale length, not the more common 1:100 scale.

Piko also offer some unusual prototypes, with rolling stock from countries including Poland and the Czech Republic making a nice change from the multitude of German stock available.

Piko Hobby

In 2002 the ‘Hobby’ range was introduced, a range of lower priced locomotives and rolling stock featuring the usual European refinement of all wheel drive and pickup, giving superb running qualities for a lower price.

Piko Hobby LocomotiveA range of AC ~ Märklin-Motorola Digital locomotives are also available in this range at extraordinarily reasonable prices.  Shortly afterwards the Hobby range was expanded to include a selection of building kits.

The 2006 Nurnberg Toy Fair saw the unveiling of Piko's first G Scale locomotive, the fantastic Taurus Electric Locomotive.

Piko also do a small range of TT Scale (1:120) Hobby locomotives at very attractive prices. Click here for the selection.
