Noch Scenics & Figures for Railway Modelling
Noch are based in the German town of Wangen im Allgäu, just north of the Swiss border, and are established manufacturers of scenic and landscaping materials for model railways. Their range covers G Scale (1:22.5 scale), HO Scale (1:87), N Scale (1:160) and Z Scale (1:220). Noch's popularity is steadily increasing in the UK as many of their HO products are also suitable for OO Scale (1:76) and general laoyut building and scenic modelling.
 Probably the largest range of the European manufacturers, materials for modelling are available in all scales, with a huge range of products suitable for all.
For those who prefer their scenery ready-made, there is a large range of Pre-formed Tunnels which can be added straight to the layout, and even ready made modular Layout Boards, that only need track before they are ready to use.
 Brief-Case Layouts are another feature of the Noch range, many of which are in the tiny and astonishing Z scale. They are an excellent solution for where space is an issue or when a fixed layout is impractical. Also available for N scale
For those who like the satisfaction of designing and building their own landscapes, there is a huge range of products available, from simple Terrain Mats, to materials for building Water Features and mountains. Add to this a range of Figures and other accessories, such as Neon Signs for OO and HO scales, and you have the most comprehensive range of scenics and accessories available.
 Their vast selection of Scatters, Flocks and Ballasts mean that it is possible to replicate virtually any natural ground-covering, enhance the appearance of Trees and Hedges, and provide an effective look to track work.
One of the latest inovations relating to landscape creation is Noch's 'Grass Master', pictured below. This handy tool will electro-statically 'charge' the particles  of flock fibres and lay them standing on end! This makes for an incredibly realistic grassing effect.
Also available are a variety of different pre-cast Tunnel Mouths, Retaining Walls and Bridge Sections, all of which are finished to a high quality of realism. The same techniques are applied to Rock Formations.
The excellent Helix Spiral System is ideal for joining track on two different levels in a confined space. This could be used 'behind the scenes', for example, to run track from the layout above to a fiddle yard below or to reach different levels on a mountain layout.
 The 'Synchro Sound' system is a nicely thought-out product for use with traditional analogue layouts. The unit connects to the track and monitors the current that the locomotive is drawing, changing the frequency of the 'chuff' accordingly. Available in Steam or Diesel versions it is also tuneable for the relative engine speeds of your units.
