We are happy to ship an order anywhere in the world. Orders for shipping outside of the UK are charged carriage at cost, according to the weight and value of the goods ordered. Where possible we will use Royal Mail International Signed For Service, which will require a signature on delivery, but brings extra security throughout. For some very low value orders we may use a standard airmail service where a signature service is not economical. All Royal Mail packages are sent Priority (Airmail), unless it is uneconomical to do so, for example a heavy package of low value items such as catalogues. For larger orders that are not able to be sent using Royal Mail services, we use UPS international courier services. These also require a signature on delivery. We will select the service that is most suitable for the goods ordered, and the most economical where possible, without compromising on the need for security so that the goods reach you complete and in good condition. However, we cannot guarantee delivery dates on any overseas orders due to potential delays outside our control, such as delays with international flights, customs or with domestic postal services in your country. (right click and "save target as" if the file does not open) Announcement May 2009 - Some of you will have noticed that for some time our site has been unable to accept non UK orders. This was due to secure payment systems now requiring us to state the amount that we are going to charge. Gone are the days that we can simply take card details, calculate the shipping charge once we have packed the goods, and charge ‘carriage at cost’.
We have reinstated non-UK orders on the Gaugemaster website, and in the short term we will be using a type of payment that allows us to make a additional charge of up to 15% above the stated amount declared for the order. We are using a ‘basic charge’ of £5.80 to give us some scope for when we come to charge the correct carriage amount for the weight/ value/ destination calculation.
For example, if the goods are £100 + the basic carriage charge of £5.80 = £105.80 – this means when we come to charge the goods we are able to charge up to 15% above the £105.80 (£121.67) - we still only charge carriage at cost and some of you will see that the total carriage charge will sometimes be less than the £5.80 charge. This will be reflected on the receipt that accompanies your goods.
Without doing this we would need to contact every non UK customer for an additional carriage charge, and unfortunately we have no secure method by which to take the payment details other than by telephone, and that is not always easy due to time differences etc.
To surmise, we have only charge ‘carriage at cost’ the same as we have always done.
We are developing a system whereby we can calculate the shipping charge accurately on the website and we hope to have this implimented during the summer of 2009.
