Background:

I started at gaugemaster in early 2004 and have since become renowned for my model railway photographs and electrical diagram drawings, and having worked for a telecommunications company I find wiring a layout fairly simple (most of the time).

I have been railway modelling and been a railway ‘nut’ since the age of four, having been taken to watch the Twilight of Steam around the Hither Green, Grove Park area of south east London by my grandfather.  I was also the proud owner of a Hornby clockwork train set at about the same age.

Serious railway modelling started at around the age of twelve; first in OO scale, but then being seduced by the charm of narrow gauge branch lines after discovering the remains of the Lynton & Barnstaple in 1974 and therefore OO9 scale modelling commenced.

Moving to the Littlehampton area about 20 years ago I then discovered Amberley Chalk Pits Museum and became a member of their industrial rail group, restoring, maintaining and driving various 2-foot gauge steam, diesel, petrol and battery-electric locomotives and stock, (a really big train set!)

After being made redundant in 2002, a year off was followed by my joining the team here at Gaugemaster, being paid for doing my hobby and imparting wisdom to both newcomers to the hobby and to the old stagers.

My particular specialities are narrow gauge (of all types), wiring and constructing layouts, repair and maintainance techniques, and scenic modelling.

I am currently building several layouts, a OO9 brewery, an O-16.5 scale mining layout, a garden railway, a couple of dioramas and a OO/OO9 layout for my son, who now works part time at Gaugemaster.

I’m always ready for a chat and if you’re really lucky I might show you my photographs!
