When the Büssing 12,000 was tested with heavy ballast The designers of the Braunschweig truck forge knew what they were doing before sending a new truck generation on its way to the customer. Extensive long-distance tests preceded the Büssing 12,000, so that the three-axle vehicle was on the road for many hundreds of miles with heavy flatbed ballast. The long chassis should have best performance characteristics thanks to the underfloor engine. In fact, the test vehicle went into months of operation, driving on highways and mountain ranges. This provided clarity that with the extension of the effective area to the entire length of the truck, an ideal utilization of the statutory load limits could be achieved for both light and bulky loads. The roadholding was described by the test drivers as beneficial - whether on mountain routes or in construction site traffic. Above all, the even distribution of traction on four single wheels made the rear tires more gentle. WIKING dedicated a unique theme edition to this classic truck. The test truck is available in factory colors and associated ballast as well as a single chassis, as it was handed over to bodybuilders, quasi steel-naked, but kept in Büssing color. WIKING had been commissioned to build a prototype of the Büssing 12,000 at the beginning of the 1950s - the wood pattern still bears witness to this. Decades later, the traditional model builders brought the project to completion - since then the Büssing 12,000 has been the most successful WIKING classic truck!
