Rail Administration: DR |Era: IV |Track: H0 |Power system: AC Steam locomotive 02 0201 of the German Reichsbahn. First time as Epoch IV version in the state of the 1980s Reissue of the popular ROCO model Metal wheels in filigree design With only one generator on the smoke chamber Without oil riser at the rear of the tender To test new passenger coaches, the Halle experimental facility needed another fast-moving steam locomotive. The new machine 18 201 was developed from the high-speed tender locomotives 61 002 and parts of the high-pressure test locomotive H 25 024. As a steam generator was a modified Neubaukessel the series 22 with an extended smoke chamber and Giesl ejector. To keep the speed at a fast speed, the machine was equipped with a backpressure brake. Fast driving meant up to 175 km / h, because for this maximum speed was the 18 201 initially - 180 km / h later - admitted, of course, only forward. In 1967 an oil main firing was installed. With conversion to the new system of computer-compatible operating numbers with the DR in the year 1970 the machine was led as 02 0201-0. The status as a traditional locomotive she had already received in GDR times. She often came in the 1980s to special cronies, either on order of the DMV, or - currency earning - for Western tour operators. In 1985, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the German railways, the locomotive received an exit permit to the west for the first time. At that time it was one of the great attractions at the Nuremberg exhibition.
