E-loc BR110 181-5 DB Orient Red, Ep.IVb The E 10 series is a unit electric locomotive for express train traffic built for the German Federal Railways for the first time in 1952. Since 1968, it has been used as a class 110 and its sub-series as series 112 to 115. The E 10 was for many years the most important locomotive series in the German fast train traffic. After the railway reform, the locomotives were mainly used in local traffic. Here they are meanwhile retired, individual locomotives of the series 115 still operate in intercity traffic and in front of passenger trains for special purposes for the transfer of cars.
