IV-V The Stadtbahnwagen type M, also known as Zweirichtungswagen, was developed in 1975 by the transport companies in Essen, Mülheim ad Ruhr, Bochum and Bielefeld in cooperation with DUEWAG . By the mid-nineties more than 12 city railcars had been built as 6-axle or 8-axle vehicles for more than 12 different public transport companies.
