The Class 491 units were designed for mainline commuter travel from London Waterloo to Weymouth with similar services running to Bournemouth hauled by a 4REP unit. They were designed in the late 1960s under the 442 class but were changed to Class 491, under which they spent the majority of their working lives. 34 sets were constructed during their 23 year life span from the Bournemouth TMD, They were built using the BR Mk1 coaches fitted with air brakes and electric train heating. These models are a beautiful replica of the Class 491 and have lots of external and internal features including working directional lighting, working internal lighting, detailed seats, Pickups on all wheel in the driving coach and detailed head and tail units.
