PRODIGY ADVANCE² consists of three elements.  The POWER PACK transforms the power from your mains socket ready for the Base Unit.  The BASE UNIT is the brains behind the operation.  It contains all the technology you need to send DCC commands to your trains and accessories.  However, short of turning the power on and off, you'll find your closest companion is the Walkaround controller which plugs straight into the Base Unit.  The WALKAROUND is a hand-held controller that you use to send your commands to the Base Unit, which then sends them on to the relevant decoder on your layout.  You control the speed and direction of your trains from here.  One of the key features of DCC operation is that each of your locomotives has a numeric address which you select as and when you want to run that locomotive.  DCC allows you to run it anywhere on your railway at the same time as other trains are moving as well.  You can operate points (individually or route set) and signals from the Walkaround.  You can use it to programme your decoders to replicate the running characteristics of your locomotives, or even introduce a speed clock that allows you to run a 24 hour timetable within one operating session.  The possibilities are almost endless with DCC and with locomotives becoming available with factory-fitted decoders as standard, we are entering an exciting new era.  Of course, you can also retro-fit your older locomotives with decoders if you wish.

The Walkaround controller is used in conjunction with the DCC02 Package for controlling PRODIGY ADVANCE² layouts.  Additional Walkarounds are often bought so more than one operator can use a layout at the same time, or to increase operational flexibility by having another controller located at a remote part of a layout.  The Walkaround measures approximately 195 x 80 x 35mm.

The Extension Plate allows Walkaround controllers to be plugged in at different locations around your layout, not restricting you to the sockets on the front of the Base Unit.  This also allows the use of further Walkaround controllers on your layout and increases operational flexibility as well as making it much easier for more than one user to operate your layout.  Every Extension Plate used enables a further 2 Walkarounds to be connected.

Key features of this standard Decoder include smooth operation, three speed step settings, plug and play, transponder id-equipped, all mode programming, decoder reset CV, motor isolation protection, advanced & universal consisting, 2 and 4 digit addressing, DCC compatible and NMRA compliant.  This decoder is rated at 1.5 amp (2 amp peak) with 2 functions at 0.5 amps, and measures 16.76 x 30.4 x 6.35mm.

Key features of this small Decoder include smooth operation, three speed step settings, plug and play, transponder id-equipped, all mode programming, decoder reset CV, motor isolation protection, advanced & universal consisting, 2 and 4 digit addressing, DCC compatible and NMRA compliant.  This decoder is rated at 1 amp (2 amp peak) with 2 functions at 0.5 amps, and measures 9.14 x 13.97 x 3.3mm.

This 3 amp stationary decoder is NMRA compliant and has four outputs, best thought of as 4 decoders in 1, each with its own sub-address.  This decoder is used for the operation of points and accessories with PRODIGY ADVANCE² and can operate points individually or as part of a route-setting process.  The Accessory Decoder measures 55 x 45 x 20mm.

This useful module allows you to operate a reverse loop without needing to change the polarity of the track, a common situation that faces modellers with conventional analogue control model railways.  Measures 45 x 25 x 25mm.

If your DCC layout needs more power then the easiest and safest way of providing this is by dividing the layout into sections - or "Power Districts" - each fed by a Booster.  Areas of your layout you choose as separate Power Districts might be your loco shed, a station and sidings, a goods depot, or even sections of a busy four track mainline.  You can have as many or as few Power Districts as you wish.
