Trix/Minitrix New Items 2019

John Chandler

JOHN CHANDLER takes us through the new releases from Trix and Minitrix this year.

Browsing the new items brochure is always an exciting time but picking out some favourites can be difficult. However, I will try!

Trix HO Scale

Trix New Items 2019

The first model that took my eye was the Bavarian "Glaskasten", M22721, a Royal Bavarian State Railroad (KBayStsB) class Ptl2/2. Both axles are powered by a miniature motor under DCC control with an in-built capacitor to keep it going over points etc. It is mainly constructed of metal to improve traction.

My next choice is almost unique in the Trix family; it is analogue with an MTC21 interface! M22983 is a Class 44 Steam Loco, number 44 1746. This oil fired loco with its 2-10-0 arrangement was ideally suited for heavy freight trains. There is a DCC sound fitted version in M22981 with running number 44 1264.

As you may recall from one of my previous articles, "My Favourite Class", I have an addiction towards the Class 103. M22933 keeps this 'alive' as Trix introduce a re-tooled model with full mfx sound and controllable pantographs.

Trix New Items 2019

Now, here's a novelty. Trix propose a Class RCe2/4 with trailer, M22867. This express powered railcar had the nick-name of 'Roter Pfeil' (Red Arrow) but only had 3rd class accommodation. The single axle trailer was intended for transporting skis!

Finally, I propose a very useful device for the loco depot, a turntable. M66861 is designed for use with Trix C-Track and comes complete with sound and light functions! Three additional tracks can be inserted using M66871. Note that Trix C-Track is connectively compatible with Märklin C-Track and Märklin myWorld track.

Minitrix N Scale

2019 marks the 60th anniversary of the Minitrix brand. As part of the celebration, Minitrix and its HO sister brand, Trix, now have their own catalogues.

2019 is also the 100th anniversary of the iconic "Crocodile" locomotive which will feature later.

Trix New Items 2019

I will start with an unique idea due out later this year, an undecorated refrigerator wagon in the Hobby range, M18086. Rarely do you get the chance to customise a vehicle without having to buy a pre-branded wagon.

Trix New Items 2019

As usual, a new version of the ubiquitous Class 103.1 from the German Trans Eurpo Express fleet is on offer. On this occasion, it is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the IC 79, a prestige service which linked the cities of Aachen, Amsterdam, Berchtesgaden, Braunschweig, Bremerhaven, Brussels, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Geneva, Innsbruck, Kassel, Klagenfurt, Kiel, Ludwigshafen, Milan, Regensburg, Saarbrücken, Westerland, and Vienna with a series of trains having matching carriage formations. This model, M16304, features a plastic body filled with metal for improved pulling power. A matching coach set comprising M15459, M15460 and M15461 is also offered.

Trix New Items 2019

As hinted, M16681 is offered in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the "Crocodile" Class Ce 6/8"' Electric Locomotive. The prototype of this model was invited by the Swedish Railway Museum to celebrate 100 years of the electric locomotive in the Nordic country and travelled there mostly under its own power! This model also features a plastic body filled with metal for improved pulling power. Limited to a world-wide production of 999, a consecutively numbered certificate of authenticity is included.

Trix New Items 2019

Finally, I propose the classic blueish-green liveried SNCF class BB9200 elctric locomotive, M16692. This loco was a major workhorse for SNCF between the late 50s and the early 70s.

All Minitrix locomotives are DCC with Sound as standard.
