PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT - Noch Laser-Cut Plants

James Hickman

JAMES HICKMAN looks at this interesting range of scenic items.

There is something pleasing for many people in tending to their gardens, their own little slice of nature. Whether it's weeding the veg patch or pottering around planting seeds, many find sanctuary in this delightful past-time. However, working outside isn't so enjoyable in the winter months as the weather begins to turn into the cold and wet conditions we face this time of year. This said, a model railway can be worked on whatever the weather, so why not combine the two. In this article you'll see that with a few of the Noch Laser-Cut Minis, delightful horticultural effects can be easily and rapidly achieved!

The Noch range of Laser-Cut Minis plants offers something for everyone. It ranges from pre-potted plants in attractive containers, to wild ferns and stinging nettles which can be added to any layout.

Noch Laser Cut Plants

It is common for gardens to be missed on layouts, minus the typical pots and borders of the British railway stations of days gone by of course. It only takes a walk down the street to see the variation of gardens around. Remember that each garden is owned by someone different, and that they each have different ideas of how they want their garden. Someone living in a two-up two-down in a forgotten cul-de-sac may like to brighten the area up with the vivid blooms of a Hollyhock or sage plant, where as the guy next door may not care about his garden, leaving it to become overgrown and covered in nettles. Recreating these little scraps of nature can become laborious when sticking to the typical scatters and flocks, but now replicating any garden is easy and relatively quick when using the Laser-Cut Minis range.

There are two types of plant products in the Minis series. You have the pre-assembled plants in pots, and the self-assembly packets. The pre-assembled packs can be added to the layout instantly with the addition of a little glue for a permanent hold, or Deluxe Materials Tacky Wax for those of you that like to change things around occasionally.

Saying that the other plants are self-assembly is a bit harsh. In reality the plants simply need removing from their sheets with a knife or fine pair of scissors. Once this is done they can be glued into position. Deluxe Materials Speedbond is perfect for this.

As with any garden you can spend as much or as little time on it as you like. With additional items found in other ranges, a multitude of different gardens can be achieved. You could include: A Fountain, (VN5015 for 'HO/OO' scale or VN5805 for 'N' scale) Gardeners, (PR14081 for 'HO/OO' scale or PR79046 for 'N' scale) A Greenhouse, (B44-168 for 'HO/OO' scale or GMKD22 for 'N' scale) Somewhere to sit in the summer, (FA180443 for 'HO/OO' scale or N35849 for 'N' scale) or if you fancy giving the owners of the houses their own choice of plants, how about a Garden Center. (FA130253 for 'HO/OO' scale or FA232514 for 'N' scale)

What ever you want to include, the only limit is your imagination!
